Sophomore Inspire Week
Callings Workshop:
When it comes to choosing a college/ university, my main goal is to find a school that has a good writing program. I also focus a lot on the location of the school, because living in a city is very important to me.
A best fit college for me looks like a beach school. I want to go to a school that is not too big, but not too small. The top priority for me is that there are many opportunities for writing in the school/ area. I would want to work for a college paper, or a local one if possible.
College Prep:
This week, I have really learned that a good career for me will involve helping people. I have always known that I want to be a writer, but the main insight that I have gained is why. I want to report so that people know the truth. I want to write so that others can hear a story.
I have learned this from reading about many other people and their careers. I believe that every person has chosen their path because it is their way of connecting to people, or helping them.
Transcripts:
Right now, I want to be a journalist, and I want to attend Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida
So far, I have kept good grades and taken all of the classes that will set me up for this career. I chose not to take Journalism this year, because I would prefer to take it during a fully in person year, so that is my next step.
YouScience:
My YouScience results taught me that I am a Blended Energizer. This means that I have some of the strengths and weaknesses of both extraverts and introverts. This was interesting to hear because I have always worked very well in groups, but I am definitely an introvert in most ways.
This makes me think that a career where I work with others would be a good fit for me. I think that Journalism is perfect for this. Most of the time, I can work alone, while having the option of collaborating and working to interview.
